Online eStore Choices

There are two choices of technology in this demonstration for eCommerce. First, the USRC website uses static eCommerce.

The USRC Static eStore

That means that the shopping is all done from static links on a static webpage. This means you have to read through a list of links to find what you want then by clicking on the purchase link, it takes you to the check out directly. This is a simple straight forward procedure that makes sense when there are a few products and you know the customer will want what you have to offer. Unfortunately, you can only buy one item at a time with this method since there is no shopping cart available. If you want to have dozens or hundreds and especially thousands or millions of products, services, or bits of important information to search through while shopping then you really must have a searchable database for members or customers to use to instantly find what they are looking for. Amazon.com is the best example of an extreme use of this technology. Below are 4 examples of the same technology that Amazon.com uses except programmed for a smaller, less expensive scale appropriate for small businesses and organizations that might have hundreds of thousands of customers or members but not millions of customers.

Dynamic eStore(s)

Dynamic eStores allow you to search for and find just the product or service you are looking for out of dozens or hundreds and especially thousands or millions of products, services, or bits of important information. The products are listed with keywords associated with the the description so the search scans a database of these words to find the right product at the right time in your shopping experience. This fact makes eStore shopping much more efficient than looking around in a mall or examining lists of products in static websites while shopping their catalogs.
